John Bowlby's attachment theory has had a fruitful development to this day. This book deals with human motivations, their evolution and their role in the structuring of capacities such as the regulation of emotions, empathy and the ability to reflect together with others. Beyond Freudian pulsional theories based on the dichotomies sexuality/conservation or life/death, today there is a tendency in relational psychoanalysis to consider more complex schemes, closely linked to the insertion of the human being in interpersonal and intersubjective contexts.
