Of Italian-Argentine origin, he grew up and studied Medicine in Rosario (Argentina), where he also began his training in psychiatry and psychotherapy. In England he completed training in group psychotherapy (group analysis and psychodrama) and psychoanalysis. For twenty-three years he worked as a psychiatrist in the hospitals of the British National Health Service. He is a member of the British Psychoanalytic Society and the International Psychoanalytic Association. For ten years he studied attachment theory and its clinical applications with John Bowlby at the Tavistock Clinic in London.

He is a founding member of the International Attachment Network, an international institution dedicated to the study and dissemination of attachment theory. He is co-founder of the magazine Attachment and Human Development and author of numerous articles and books published in several languages. He teaches in Latin America, Europe, the United States, China and India. In Spain he is a regular collaborator of the Interfamily Therapy Center of Elche. He has had private practice in London and Alicante and currently does it online in Spanish, English and Italian as a psychotherapist, teacher and supervisor. Psimática Editorial has published all its books in Spanish.
